Obama leads McCain in the two pre-election opinion polls conducted in Michigan in the current month. Michigan is one of the important swing states, with 17 Electoral College votes.

Rasmussen Reports’ McCain Obama MI Poll, conducted on Aug 7, showed Obama leading McCain by 4 % points — 49 % to 45 % among the registered voters of Michigan.

Selzer/Detroit Free Press/WDIV conducted Obama McCain MI Poll from Aug 17 to Aug 20. The poll showed Obama leading McCain by 7 % points — 46 % to 39 % among the registered voters of Michigan.
