Quinnipiac University Poll: Obama Has Edge Over Mccain In Connecticut

Quinnipiac University Poll: Obama Has Edge Over Mccain In ConnecticutJohn McCain might be having the support of Connecticut's Democratic-turned-Independent Sen. Joe Lieberman, but a poll conducted by Quinnipiac University revealed on Wednesday that Obama rules Connecticut.

Douglas Schwartz, the Poll Director said, “At this stage of the campaign, Sen. Barack Obama is rolling over Sen. John McCain in Connecticut. Quinnipiac University also has conducted surveys in seven swing states in the last two weeks and Sen. Obama is ahead in every one.”

According to the poll, Barack Obama is leading McCain in the state by more than 20 points – 56 percent to 35 percent. Much of this lead comes from the Illinois senator's 16 point advantage among independent voters in the state. He also draws in 16 percent of Republicans there.

The poll also confirms that Lieberman, who jumped his former party late last year by endorsing McCain, holds little control over voters in his home state when it comes to the presidential election. So he would be of little help to McCain, this election.

Overall, Obama has a 56 percent to 35 percent lead over McCain among registered voters in the state. Only 14 percent said they would be more inclined to vote for the Arizona senator with Lieberman as vice president on the GOP ticket, while 32 percent said otherwise.
