Ryan O’Neal’s Son Charged for Drug Possession

Ryan O’Neal, 67 and Redmond, his 23-year old son were formally charged on Thursday for possessing methamphetamine, including other drug offenses after police searched their Malibu home, as per the terms of Redmond O’Neal’s probation for an earlier drug possession case.

Methamphetamine was found in both the bedrooms of both father and son, resulting in them being charged with felony drug possession of methamphetamine, including Redmond being additionally charged on lesser counts for possessing drug paraphernalia and pepper spray.  The charge of drug possession comes with a possible maximum sentence of three years in prison, though it is unlikely either will do time behind bars if convicted.

Ryan O’Neal, who was nominated for an Oscar for ‘Love Story’, has no previous record, and will probably be admitted into a drug rehabilitation program.  While, Redmond is most likely to see his court-ordered rehab extended.

In June this year, Redmond O’Neal, the son of actress Farrah Fawcett, pleaded guilty for possessing heroin and methamphetamine, including driving under its influence.  He was placed on three years’ probation, though he admitted to a relapse in a court appearance on 8th October and was ordered to undergo two weeks of treatment.

In July, daughter Tatum O'Neal, 44, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct stemming from a drug arrest.
