Celebrity news TV show ‘Entertainment Tonight’ said on its website on Saturday that Lisa Marie Presley, the only child of Elvis Presley, gave birth to twin baby girls on October 7. Though the names of the girls were not given, one baby weighed 5 pounds, 15 ounces, and the other 5 pounds and 2 ounces.

The twins are the first children born to Presley, 40, and her musician husband Michael Lockwood, 47. Presley also has two children with ex-husband, Danny Keough - a 19-year-old daughter and a 15-year-old son. After that union ended in 1994, she briefly married Michael Jackson, and then actor Nicolas Cage.

According to a statement released, Presley gave birth by Caesarean section. She lives in the Los Angeles area, and the publicist, who refused to provide further details said the births took place somewhere on the West Coast.

The statement says “babies and mom are happy and healthy and resting at home.”

‘Entertainment Tonight’ said twins run in the Presley family - her father, Elvis Presley, who died in 1977, was a twin. Her mother, Priscilla Presley, has younger brothers who are twins.

Following in the musical footsteps of her father, last year Presley released a version of Elvis’ “In the Ghetto” - a posthumous duet with her dad.
