Sparks Speaks Up For Teenage Chastity

Sparks Speaks Up For Teenage Chastity American Idol winner Jordin Sparks says that she stands firmly by her predisposition on teenage chastity. She said that she does not regret speaking up at the US MTV Video Music Awards and that she takes being role model very seriously.

Sparks had sparks flying at the awards function when she hit back at VMA host Russell Brand's merciless jokes about the famous promise rings worn by The Jonas Brothers.

Sparks, who also happens to wear promise ring as a pledge to remain a virgin until married, used the opportunity to speak up on the issue.

"It's not bad to wear a promise ring because not everybody, guy or girl, wants to be a slut."

"I was thinking about it afterwards and I was like, 'oh my God, I can't believe what I just got myself into'," Sparks said, later, from her home in Phoenix, Arizona.

"It's his job to be funny and crack jokes, it was just a little much so I just decided to say something and I had no idea it was going to be such a big thing," she said.

"Everybody is totally entitled to their opinions, that's what's so great about the world we live in, but sometimes it gets a little too much when you hear the same thing."

"For me sometimes it gets a little annoying."
