Addressing a crowd of about 1,000 people at the Grand Wayne Convention Center in Downtown Fort Wayne, Michelle Obama conveyed her message thus: Barack Obama has done all he can; now it’s time for “you” to get out and vote. She called for voting early, walking neighborhoods, working phones and helping get neighbors out to vote on November 4. She said. “We are going to need you working and praying for us.”

The presidential race has tightened in Indiana, with Barack Obama making inroads into the traditional Republican stronghold - the state that has not voted democratic since 1964. Sarah Palin, McCain’s running mate will also visit the state this week, as a part of the efforts of McCain campaign to hold onto the once-reliable electoral votes.

Defending their election procedures, election officials denied any wrongdoing with regard to the alleged illegal removal of voters from the rolls in six swing states - Colorado, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Nevada and North Carolina. This denial comes in response to a newspaper report that said tens of thousands of eligible voters have been removed from the rolls or kept from registering in these states.

School Bus-Truck Collision Kills Four School Children In Indiana

Officials with the Indiana State Police said that the injured bus driver, Debbie DuVall, was airlifted to Fort Wayne for treatment. The two truck drivers were not injured.

Worms Discovered In School Fountain’s Drinking Water
Submitted by Carina Rose on Sat, 09/20/2008 - 05:58Tiny black worms have been discovered in a drinking fountain at Hershey Elementary in Indiana, after which all drinking water in the school was shut-off and the health authorities notified.
In a preliminary verbal report, health officials say, living organisms are sometimes found in groundwater, and though the organisms are likely to be harmless, their identity is not yet known. A final written report including the confirmed identity of the worms is expected on Friday. However, an inspection of the school’s well-casing and storage tanks reveal no penetration. A bacteriological sample taken on 29th August showed no signs of bacteria in the water system.

The ‘Obama McCain Indiana Polls,’ conducted in the current month of August show that Sen. John McCain leads Sen. Barack Obama by 6 % points in the Hoosier State. McCain leads Obama in the two statewide polls conducted by Survey USA and Rasmussen Reports in August.
Indiana is the state behaving somewhat like swing states. The state has 11 Electoral College votes.
Bayh Speculated As Obama’s Probable Running Mate

Obama’s visit to Indiana has led many to speculate that he might be inclined towards picking Indiana Senator Evan Bayh as his running mate.
As Obama held a town hall in Elkhart on Wednesday, local media was highly expectant of Obama, a senator from neighboring Illinois, announcing Bayh as his choice at the event, but that did not happen.
Even though Bayh initially supported Obama’s rival, Hillary Clinton, in the Democratic primary, the two men exhibited amity in Elkhart.

Tyson Gay clocked his astounding best of 9.68 seconds in the 100 meters at the United States Olympic track and field trials on Sunday. For this he should perhaps be thankful to Usain Bolt for beating him so badly last month that really set him on fire.
The loss had made Gay and his coach, former sprinter Jon Drummond, do some serious thinking in order to find out what went wrong and also work out a new strategy for Gay.
