A recently-conducted study by the Researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison revealed that overeating causes brain to function erratically. Overeating triggers a vicious cycle. This leads to various diseases like diabetes and heart diseases.
The researchers have been able to find the root cause of this disorder and can find a cure to prevent overeating.
One of the researchers said, “We discovered a very general disease pathway in the hypothalamus, a structure in the middle part of the brain which functions to regulate appetite, feeding behavior, energy and therefore body-weight balance and metabolic processes.
The study conducted on mice, shows over-nutrition by overeating high-fat diet activated the pathway, specifically in neurons in the hypothalamus. The pathway involving IKKbeta/NF-kappaB also exists in specific neurons in the hypothalamus. But under normal conditions it is inactive.
