Sleep is a very important for healthy life. The inadequacy of sleep creates problems for the women. The new research done at the University of North Carolina showed that the women having improper sleeping hours have more risk of getting a stroke. The researchers also found that women sleeping for more than 9 hours have more risk of getting a stroke as compared to women who sleep less.
The researchers studied 93000 women between age group of 50 to 79 years. These women belonged to forty different places in the United States.
The researchers showed that 5% women admitted sleeping for nine hours or more. But these women had 60 to 70 percent higher chances to get a stroke as compared to women who slept less than six hours.
The researchers were still not clear about the reasons behind this connection. The women sleeping for less than six hours also have increased stroke risk. This research was done on postmenopausal women. So the researchers are not clear that whether this relation is applicable to men and younger women as well.
