AT&T Launches Its “Mobile TV Service” In 58 U.S. Cities

The recently announced Mobile TV Service by AT&T will be available 58 markets and give customers access to more than 150 programs from a variety of TV networks, cable channels, and exclusive content providers.
The San Antonio, Texas based largest provider of both local and long distance telephone services, wireless service, and DSL Internet access in the United States, AT&T on Thursday it has an agreement with MediaFLO USA to allow users in 58 markets to access television programs live through their mobile phones. The company also announced two new handsets -- Vu from LG Electronics MobileComm and the Access from Samsung Telecommunications America.
Already providing its subscribers with mobile access to on-demand video clips, AT&T said that its Mobile TV Service will be available next week. The service will be available in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, San Diego, Seattle, Washington, D.C., and other cities.
AT&T Mobile TV Service will include more than 150 simulcast or time-shifted traditional programs from CBS, ESPN, FOX, NBC, NBC News 2Go, MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, as well as content aimed specifically at AT&T's mobile users. It’ll also provide two exclusive AT&T channels, CNN Mobile Live and Sony's PIX. The users will be able to sign up for four channels for $13 a month, unlimited mobile TV for $15 a month, or unlimited mobile TV, mobile video, and mobile Web browsing for $30 a month.
The mobile TV service will feature CNCRT, a concert channel from entertainment producer and distributor Control Room. The channel will air about 30 recent concerts around the clock from recording artists, including: Avril Lavigne, Chris Brown, Fall Out Boy, Jay Z, Sheryl Crow, Akon, Daughtry, Lenny Kravitz, and Rage Against the Machine.
