A Phase III clinical trial generated by Genentech and Roche to determine, whether a combination of Tarceva and Avastin, two cancer drugs together would extend the lives of lung cancer patients than if given individually, reveals survival rates for people with advanced non-small cell lung cancer, the most common and most deadly kind of lung cancer do not rise when given the drug combination.
Disappointing news, indeed, as the adverse side effects of Tarceva and Avastin are known and accepted, which means researchers will now have to try and develop new treatment drugs.
Researchers continue to investigate the possibility of offering a combination of two leading cancer drugs for cancer treatment.
