Justin Timberlake has denied reports of teaming up with former girlfriend Britney Spears to collaborate on a song.

According to PageSix, Spears and Timberlake were supposed to work together on a duet for Britney’s latest album “Blackout”, but the distressed pop star reportedly did not show up for a scheduled recording session at Timbaland’s Virginia Beach studio last August.

“Timbaland set aside a week out of his crazy schedule to do this - and then, just before she was supposed to fly out, Britney abruptly canceled the session and refused to do the song,” revealed a source.

“It’s crazy,” the insider added. “She’s looking for a comeback, and this would have not only been a huge hit, but something she could have opened the MTV Video Awards with and really blown everyone away.”

Spears and Timberlake broke up in 2002 after four years of dating. Timberlake is currently romancing Hollywood actress Jessica Biel.
