Vanquishing Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton in the last eight consecutive Democratic primaries or caucuses, the Illinois Sen. Barack Obama is now hoping to make it 10 straight wins on Tuesday in Wisconsin and Hawaii.
The latest poll results have reflected that the Obama momentum has surged impressively since the Feb. 5 Super Tuesday primaries, moving from a +13 Clinton advantage in Feb. 3-5 polling to a +7 Obama lead in the latest results.
The latest Gallup poll has revealed that the Illinois Senator Barack Obama has widened his national lead against Sen. Hillary Clinton in their recently turned extremely tight battle for the 2008 Democratic Presidential nomination. The poll has dubbed it Obama’s first “statistically significant” lead.
According to Gallup Poll Daily Election Tracking, the nationwide Democratic voters’ preferences have currently shifted towards Obama. The Feb. 13-15 poll results have shown that the Illinois senator is presently enjoying his first statistically significant lead, 49% to 42%, over Hillary Clinton. Furthermore, the 49% support for Obama represents the high point for him in the daily tracking program.
The recent Rasmussen survey from Wednesday showed Clinton trailing Obama by just 4 points, at 43 percent to his 47.
According to the Poll, Obama narrow lead could widen Tuesday with the Wisconsin primary, where he holds a four-point margin in recent polls, and caucuses in Hawaii. Hawaii is the state where Obama was born and where he spent much of his childhood. This factor alone could give him the edge in the State.
The Aloha State, Hawaii is small state its 20 delegates, but Wisconsin certainly is bigger fish with 74 delegates. The latest Associated Press count shows that Obama with 1,276 leads Clinton, who has 1,220 delegates.
Meanwhile, Clinton has presently shifted her focus to Wisconsin and Hawaii contests from her must-win March 4 contests in Ohio and Texas, to hinder Obama’s hopes to it 10 straight wins on Tuesday. Clinton campaign has sent daughter Chelsea on “Hawaii Mission” for three days to woo voters for her mom.
