Sen. Hillary Clinton has got half of the delegates she won from Michigan and Florida, and she has won Puerto Rico Democratic Primary with a wide margin, but Sen. Barack Obama still leads her by some 158 delegates.
The Democratic Party leaders, on Saturday, agreed to seat Michigan and Florida delegates with half-votes at the summer convention with a compromise, according to which Clinton got 52.5 delegate votes from Florida and 34.5 delegate votes from Michigan, while Obama got 33.5 from Florida and 29.5 from Michigan. According to the results of Puerto Rico Democratic Primary announced late Sunday, Clinton won 38 while Obama got 17 in Puerto Rico.
Clinton and Obama are nearing the finishing line of their dramatic Democratic presidential race, which ends on Tuesday with the Democratic primaries of South Dakota and Montana, where some 31 delegates are at stake.
According to the current delegate count, Obama now has total 2073 delegates, which include 1739 pledged delegates and 334 superdelegates. On the other hand, Clinton has total 1915, which include 1624 pledged delegates and 291 superdelegates.
After Florida/Michigan compromise, total 2,118 delegates are needed to win the Democratic Party’s nomination. So, much depends on uncommitted superdelegates now. Clinton has to win nearly all the remaining uncommitted superdelegates, if she’s to end the contest evenly poised.
