One of the hottest questions these days among the Republicans is, who
would Sen. John McCain pick as a vice presidential running mate. Well, McCain is offering the public a brief glimpse of at least a few of the candidates.
McCain invited the three possible running mates at his Sedona vacation house, during an unseasonably mild Arizona weekend. His guests were Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal. Several of McCain's top aides were also present at the weekend, which McCain campaign dubbed merely a "social" event with no VP significance”.
McCain has consistently said he is looking for a running mate who shares his beliefs and would be prepared to take over the presidency if needed. McCain's aides are also looking at women and younger candidates. However, Republicans say that McCain is not likely to announce his running mate in the immediate future. At the same time, the Republican reps say the Arizona senator is sure to do it before the party's convention in early September.
