Since quitting the race in January, John Edwards has remained silent on which of his two formal rivals he plans to support. The question of John Edwards Endorsement is getting hotter as the NC primary is approaching near. “Who would the Edwards endorse; Clinton or Obama?” has certainly become one of the most hackneyed questions in the political circles of North Carolina.
John Edwards, the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination through the January primaries and Elizabeth Edwards decided to quit the Democratic nomination on Jan. 30. Since, the neither John nor Mrs. Edwards, a political activist herself, has endorsed any of the democratic candidates; Clinton or Obama. Now, when the race between Sen. Hillary Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama has grown highly intense, the contest has seems to be landed in the Edwards’ backyard.
According to Hunter Bacot, the Elon University Poll Director, although Edwards is not a superdelegate, the Edwards remain the biggest prize among North Carolina Democrats.
Clinton’s supporters, in particular, are anxious for Edwards to speak up about whom they support. Clinton supporters are hoping that Edwards’ endorsement will bolster Mrs. Clinton’s chances at a crucial moment. Obama, who has had a significant lead in the polls here for months, is hoping to edge out Clinton thru Edwards Endorsement.
There is a lot of “dead reckoning” going on over Edwards Endorsement. Alina Szmant, a professor at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington, “People talk about it all the time. The rumor on the street is that he’s holding out for a V.P. position.” Some even reckon that Edwardses would make a joint endorsement.
