Woods Has Left Knee Surgery In Park City, Utah

tiger-woodsPark City, Utah: You’re going to miss Tiger Woods for at least a month; it is bad news, if you are Woods’ fan. Yes, Tiger Woods, the World No. 1 Golfer had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee to repair cartilage damage on Tuesday.

The news of arthroscopic surgery was announced on Woods’s Web site. It was Tiger’s second operation in five years on the knee. The news came two days after he finished three shots behind Trevor Immelman in the Masters.

Woods will most likely miss the Players Championship in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., on May 8-11, but he should return to play the United States Open on June 12-15 at Torrey Pines in San Diego.

The surgery was performed in Park City, Utah, by Thomas Rosenberg, the surgeon who operated on Woods’s left knee in December 2002. Woods also had surgery in 1994 on his left knee to remove a benign tumor.

Mark Steinberg, Woods’s agent at IMG, said, “Tiger has been experiencing pain in his knee since the middle of last year, and when he had it looked at by his doctors, arthroscopic surgery was recommended.”
