Virus proves to be a blessing for prostate cancer

Prostate-Cancer-CellsResearchers have recognized a virus, which supposedly is a killer against cancer of prostate gland. It works by culminating the disease causing cancerous cells and sparing off the normal ones.

The virus popularly termed as respiratory, enteric, orphan virus, or "reovirus" is harmless to human beings and has "oncolytic" potential, meaning it aims to kill the cancerous cell only. This is a pioneering study on prostate cancer.

After effects of the treatment may include symptoms of flu or respiratory disorders or the victim may suffer from diarrhea.

After the studies on six men suffering from early phased prostate cancer, it was observed that the cancer cells, which were initially malignant, behaved benign and ultimately were killed after the injection of the virus. This was further led by surgically removal of the dead tumor cells. It was also observed that there wasn't any replication after the surgery.

This advancement in the study may provide an important insight in the field of cancer. The tests are being run for the futuristic use of the virus in other departments as well.
