Women fall for men with styled facial hair

facial-hairNew Delhi, May 19 : Women find men with styled facial hair more attractive and look for partners with body grooming habits, underlined by the belief that excessive body hair is unattractive, says a survey conducted by Philips India in collaboration with research agency Hansa.

The survey was conducted among 600 respondents between the ages of 15 and 25 in New Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune and Chandigarh.

The survey reveals that close to 54 percent women respondents in the 21-25 year age-group find men with styled facial hair more attractive.  While 50 percent associate them with modernity, another 35 percent think of them as outgoing.  Men, however, seem to be unaware of the impact of facial styling on women, with 67 percent of them believing that women prefer clean-shaven men.

"They may be missing the cues from women, but Indian men are fast joining the male grooming revolution.  Despite male grooming being a very young market, close to 29 percent men have changed their grooming gadgets at least thrice - starting with a trimmer, moving to electric shaver and then to multi-grooming gadgets," the survey said.

The survey revealed that over 56 percent men associate grooming with being stylish, while another 22 percent associate it with success.

The survey also revealed that men are also concerned about their skin.

It said that body-grooming seems to be the order of the day and this trend is now accepted in India.  While looking for a partner the primary motivation is body grooming habits among men.

More than 95 percent women admitted that too much body hair comes in the way of intimacy.  Seventy percent women would like their men to have no body hair or at least to trim it, the survey added.(IANS)
