Around 130 pupils become ill after consuming mid-day meal at Trikunapuzha Government LP School, Kerala.

Police officials stated that the lower primary class pupils fell ill after having rice gruel.

Later on, the pupils complained of vomiting and dizziness.

The police said that the sick pupils were taken to hospitals in the surrounding area.

The officials said that the investigation team was making attempts to detect the cause for food poisoning.

Under the Mid-day Meal Plan, school-children are provided with lunch on all working days without charging any cost.

The main purposes of the meal plan include protecting pupils from classroom hunger, raising school attendance, bettered socialization among kids belonging to all classes, dealing starvation, and social empowerment via provision of work to females.

Thus fat, around 120 million kids are covered under this plan, which is the biggest school lunch program around the world.
