2010 Proves to be a Good Year for Indian Stock Markets

After a weak year in 2009 and ending it on a gloomy note, the sensex and Nifty have given a pleasant ending to the investors at the end of 2010. The capital inflows have been great in the last few months with great news of economic growth.

The end was on an upward note for the sensex as it recorded gains of 2% extending gains of the last 3 trading sessions.

In the last week of the year after a weak start for the first 2 days and hitting a low of 19,981.76, the prospects of positive end were gloomy but the sensex pleasantly surprised everyone by ending the week at 20,509.09, a rise of 435.43 points, or 2.17 per cent.

In the last 3 weeks sensex has earned a total 1,000.20 points, or 5.13 per cent, and on yearly basis it risen by 17.43 per cent or 3,044.28 points.

The nifty containing the top 50 stocks ended the week 122.90 points, or 2.04 per cent higher. 277.15 points or 4.73 per cent were gained in the last 3 weeks and 933.45 points, or 17.95 per cent, in 2010.
