23 live bombs recovered in Nandigram

West Bengal, Nadigram MapNandigram (West Bengal), August 13 : The West Bengal police on Wednesday recovered 23 live bombs from Nandigram area of West Bengal.

Meanwhile there were no reports of untoward incident after Tuesday’s clashes between the Trinamool Congress and the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) cadres.

At least 17 persons including 15 Trinamool Congress workers were injured in violent clashes on Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, Bhoomi Ucched Pratirodh Committee (BUPC) which is spearheading the anti-land acquisition movement has called off its rally at Jadubari chowk.

Meanwhile, an all party chaired by the District Magistrate took place in Nandigram today to restore peace in the area.

According to reports, representatives of all political parties unanimously agreed to help the police and the local administration in unearthing of illegal arms and the arrest of anti-social elements.

A five member committee will also ensure the peace in the area so that farmers can peacefully cultivate their lands. The party representatives also agreed not to hold any political meetings or processions in the area and no road would be barricaded.

The situation in Khajuri and Nandigram and it surrounding areas are said to be peaceful now.

It was decided in the meeting that an all party meeting would be held within a week’s time again. (ANI)
