3Com gears up for integrating intrusion technology

3Com has been working to streamline secure network solution making them cost effective and power efficient. The company has now decided to integrate its interruption technology by introducing appliances and switch modules based on VPN (virtual private network) technology from H3C.

The company will introduce blades with the TippingPoint IPS from the first quarter of 2010 besides starting a single management platform from TippingPoint's Security Management System (SMS)

H3C is a joint venture between 3Com and Chinese networking giant Huawei Technologies that came into existence in 2003 for providing strong enterprise line up to 3Com and providing Huawei an access in the highly potential US market. 3Com separates its business with Huawei in 2007, however, it has still presence in China where its makes and develops products.

John Vincenzo, 3Com's Vice President of Corporate Marketing informed that integration of high level security function is a need of the hour given to rise in cyber problems. Companies such as Cisco Systems and Juniper Networks have already taken such initiatives in last few years.

3Com has introduced the H3C SecPath firewall appliances based on the H3C Comware operating system with an ability to handle multiple applications. F1000 and F5000-A5 modules offer between 6.5G bps and 8G bps performance and capable to detect possible attacks.
