3G Auction Will Be Over In Couple Of Days, Says Telecom Minister

Telecom Minister A. Raja The auction of third generation (3G) telecom services in India is likely to be over in a couple of days and is being conducted in a completely transparent manner.

Telecom Minister A. Raja said, “The auction of 3G spectrum will be over in a couple of days. It is being conducted in a completely transparent manner.”

"I am clear that the procedure is transparent. It is open to all to question this but there is no question of lack of transparency," the minister added.

The country on Wednesday completed 94 rounds of auction to award spectrum for 3G telecom services in India.

The winning bidders would be permitted to provide 3G services on a commercial basis from September 01.

The e-auction was started on April 9.

Nine mobile telephony companies comprising Bharti, Vodafone, Reliance and Tatas are in the fight for 3-4 slots of 3G spectrum, which permits subscribers to download speedy data and stream videos on handsets.

Radio waves are being auctioned across 22 circles. (With Inputs from Agencies)
