48-Hour Bandh Disrupts Jubilation over the Signing of the Tripartite AgreementAccording to reports, the 48 bandh called by the Bangla Bachao Committee, has disrupted the jubilant atmosphere around the signing of the tripartite agreement.

Also, the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee referred to the bodies as “paper organizations” that were out to disrupt the peace outside “political compulsions”, as she arrived at Sukna, close to Siliguri on Sunday evening ahead of the event.

The Chief Minister intends to make series of announcements on projects and schemes for other regions of North Bengal as well as a “mini secretariat” at Siliguri, better rail and road connectivity, owing to a “balancing act” meant to appease the people of the Dooars and Terai region.

Internally, there was an intense tension, majorly over the creation of the boundary demarcation committee for the novel Gorkhaland Territorial Administration, which is supposed to take charge after the agreement is signed on Monday.

Moreover, a late night meeting between the CM and Bimal Gurung is reported to have taken place, when the GJM president asked Mamata Banerjee for consultations ahead of the ceremony for the signing of the agreement, though Gurung celebrated his birthday later that night as reported.
