Akshay Kumar Apologizes, Says ‘Sorry’ To Sikhs

Akshay Kumar's latest film ‘Singh is King’ is going through troubled waters Akshay Kumar's latest film ‘Singh is King’ as the prominent members of Sikh community hold their protests to Akshay’s looks in the movie.

Producer Vipul Shah held a press conference to dispel the controversy differences surrounding the film, which he said has no intentions of breaching any person or community.

An apologetic Akshay said, “If I’ve made a mistake, lord forgive me and I will try to rectify my mistake.”

The protest was for Akshay's appearance and a few scenes in the movie.

Akki flew down from South Africa to re-shoot some parts of the film and attended a press meet on Friday evening in Mumbai to clear the air.

"We wanted to make sure that the community is happy with the film, that is why we went up to them and showed the film to them. There are some changes they expected us to make and we have done that," said filmmaker Vipul.

"Lot of changes are done but thing which have been already shot cannot reset again," explained Akshay.

While community members, who have been authorized by the censor board to view the film have lastly given it a ‘clean chit’ though they feel the damage is done.

"At least in the future, whosoever wants to portray Sikhs or Punjabis in their films should be sensitive towards the community and come to us before hand, after damaging it's only damage control that can be done," said Sardar Manmohan Singh of Sri Guru Singh Sabha in Dadar.

Singh Is King is a big budgeted film and has a bevy of actors. Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Neha Dhupia, Sonu Sood, Om Puri, Javed Jaffery, Ranvir Shorey, Sudhanshu Pandey and Kirron Kher star in the film. Most of the male star cast plays Sikh characters. The film has been extensively shot in Australia, Punjab and Egypt and is slated to release on August 8.
