Ambani brothers to resolve disputes through cordial dialogue

Mukesh Ambani, Anil AmbaniIn a late Sunday night statement, Reliance Industries Limited's (RIL) Mukesh Ambani welcomed brother Anil Ambani's call to make a renewed attempt to resolve their ongoing dispute, which largely resulted from an apportion of wide-ranging family business - comprising energy, financial services and telecommunications.

Anil Ambani's call for resolving the disputes in a constructive and affable manner, through cordial dialogue and discussion, comes just a few days before the Supreme Court's scheduled October 22 date to initiate the legal hearing on the gas dispute. Referring to the contentious gas dispute, Anil Ambani said that it is a larger national issue, which only the Supreme Court can resolve.

The ongoing gas dispute between RIL and Reliance Natural Resources had become a key issue for the government which was hauled into the disagreement over pricing of natural gas from the eastern seaboard gas fields of RIL.

In his statement, Anil Ambani said: "I am once again reaching out to Mukeshbhai and hope and pray that my feelings will be reciprocated and we will arrive at a solution to all outstanding issues with a generous heart, a willing mind and an accommodating spirit."

Meanwhile, responding to Anil Ambani's call for working out ways to resolve the disputes, RIL said that the reconciliatory move is a positive one, given "the negative, calumnious and malafide campaign launched by ADAG against RIL."
