ASSOCHAM offers suggestions on manifesto

ASSOCHAMThe Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham), the representative industry body has formulated a list of suggestions that can be included in the election manifesto of political parties in Karnataka.

The state has been able to attract significant external investment and remains a business friendly state but there are some infrastructure issues that have been affecting growth in the state in recently years. The industry body is offering suggestions to the political parties to increase their focus on the issues in order to boost growth in the southern state.

Assocham released its ‘Suggestions for Election Manifesto of Political Parties in Karnataka’, which contains five growth agenda for Karnataka. The suggestions include a range of topics including political issues, infrastructure, agriculture, industry, services, tourism, education, health, telecommunication and special economic zones (SEZs).

J Crasta, co-chairman, Southern Regional Council of Assocham said, “This is an attempt to create consensus on economic issues to achieve double digit growth during the next decade.”

He also said that the next government needs to focus on the small and medium enterprises (SME) as the growth of the sector is needed to ensure the growth of the state. He said that about 25 lakh families are employees in the sector and the government cannot neglect the sector.
