Bajaj Auto Records Two-fold Jump In January Sales

BajajPune-based Bajaj Auto has recorded two fold increase in its total two wheeler sales in January 2010.

The company sold 266,018 units in Jan 2010 as compared to 132,348 during the corresponding period of 2009.

Bajaj's total two wheeler sales during the month under review stood at 233,049 as against 110,363 units sold in January last year.

The company said that the superb growth recorded in January was achieved on the back of robust performance by Pulsar and newly lauched 100cc Discover DTS-Si.

During January, the company had sold 71,970 units of Pulsar, while it sold 92,035 units of its Discover DTS-Si.

Moreover, the hefty recital by the two bikes has raised BAL's share to 32% in the domestic motorcycle market in January from 21% during the year ago period.

Exports rose 32.70% to 71,695 units in January 2010 as compared to 54,027 units in January 2009.

Bajaj sold 32,969 three wheelers in January 2010 compared to 132,348 in January 2009.

The company added that its commercial vehicle sales continued to develop across different divisions but did not give details.
