Bajaj's small car in troubles, yet again!

Bajaj-Renault-Nissan-carThe Bajaj-Renault-Nissan alliance has been in news for the ULC project many times in the past wherein it has been postponing the launch of its ultra low-cost car twice in the last three years.

In fact, the company has again postponed the launch of the product bowing the branding and production issues with the product. According to the initial plans, the product was expected to hit Indian roads this year.

However, after the initial hiccups, the date was postponed to 2011, but the company has yet again rescheduled the timing to 2012. It was decided earlier that while the design, engineering, sourcing and manufacturing of the low-cost car will be handled by Bajaj Auto, the marketing and sales activities will be done by the Renault-Nissan alliance.

However, an employee at Renault recently said that the company has not yet decided on the branding of the model and it will depend on the looks and design of the product. Kiminobu Tokuyama, managing director and CEO, Nissan India, said that the company is yet to take a decision on the production plans and it will not badge it under its brand if it fell short of requirements.
