Bayern Munich not planning on signing new players
Munich - Bayern Munich are not planning to enter the transfer market for new players in the winter break despite injuries to Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben.
Sport director Christian Nerlinger told Sport Bild's online version published Wednesday that there was no need to strengthen the midfield despite injuries which have hampered Dutch winger Robben and sidelined France international Ribery.
Nerlinger denied a report Bayern were interested in signing French midfielder Moussa Sissoko of Toulouse.
"In midfield we are waiting for the return of Ribery and Robben. When they return it will be a different team," he said.
Ribery has suffered from a recurring knee injury and may not play again this year. However, Robben is now on the way back to full fitness following knee surgery.
Meanwhile midfielder Hamit Altintop ruled out a move in the winter break following reports linking him with Turkish clubs Galatasaray and Fenerbahce.
The Turkey midfielder, whose contract with Bayern expires at the end of the season, told Bild daily he would decide towards the end of March or April on his future. (dpa)
