Being Raped: A Crime Worth 100 Lashes in Saudi Arabia

Being Raped: A Crime Worth 100 Lashes in Saudi ArabiaSaudi Arabia, the country having very rigid Sharia law, is yet to differentiate between consensual sex and rape. Raped women should not expect the authorities to pay heed to their voice instead they should ready to face 100 lashes for involving in illicit sex.

Same is the case of Filipino women, dubbed as "Camille" in media who visited the country for livelihood but was raped by her co-worker. She did not move to the authorities being known to the strict Sharia law and thus compelled to let the offender roam free.

But fate was waiting for the worse as doctors found her pregnant but there was no husband around. She was forced to confess sex outside marriage and made to face harsh conditions in Jail. She was now waiting for 100 lashes for being raped after delivering the child.

Countries around the World need to think over such horrific crimes against women for protecting their rights and discouraging the victim-blaming mentality. The above tale indicates the conditions which are very common in Middle-East and can never be justified in a modern society.
