New Delhi, Oct 30 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday hit out at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for comparing his Gujarat counterpart Narendra Modi to German dictator Adolf Hitler, saying the former should apologise to the nation for the Patna blasts.

"You might have seen that Nitish Kumar, Mulayam and Digvijay Singh are constantly attacking Modi. It means Modi's influence is now quite visible to them.

And so, they are now targetting him because they cannot confront him with any issues," said BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar

"Nitishji should have first apologized to the nation that there was a flaw on his end in maintaining the security," he added, while praising the BJP leaders apt handling of the situation at Patna's Gandhi Maidan post the blasts.

Speaking at the Janata Dal (United)'s camp in Rajgir yesterday, the Bihar Chief Minister accusing Modi of telling lies and being a believer in fascism and a Hitler acolyte and, thus, a threat to democracy.

Kumar said an aspirant for the post of Prime Minister must be patient.

"What excitement did Mr Modi have? Why are you sweating so much? People sitting on top of the country need to be brave. I heard that people of Gujarat love ice-cream, but why doesn't that sweetness reflect in your words," said Kumar.

"A man who aspires to attain India's highest post should be patient. He should learn to be brave, as it's the most respectful position in our nation. Despite the ice cream consumption, there is no sweetness in his speech," he added, without naming Modi.

Kumar said his ex-friends accuse him of failing to provide security for the BJP's Patna rally, but all security arrangements were made.

"They once praised me, and now, they are finding fault with me," he added.

Taking a jibe at Modi, Kumar said that he was also a common man.

"I haven't sold tea, but I am a common man," he said, while poking fun at Modi who used to sell tea on the railway platform when he was young.

Reflecting on Modi's statement of 'Chun chun kar saath karo', Kumar asked: "What kind of language is that? They think by speaking a thousand lies it will become the truth."

The Bihar Chief Minister claimed efforts are being made to spoil the peace in the state ruled by the Janata Dal (United).

"I urge for calm and communal harmony. There is threat of communal disharmony and fascism in our state," said Kumar.

"Until we educate people and give them food there will be no progress. What's their thought for the millions who live below the poverty line? I have a vision and I am working for it," he added.

The JD(U) and BJP were partners in the Bihar Government till June this year when the former broke the 17-year alliance over the latter's decision to give Modi a starring role in the party's election campaign. (ANI)
