New Delhi/Pune, Jan 11 : Asserting that the whole nation is agitated over the ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops along the Line of Control (LoC), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday questioned Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh-led UPA II Government''s intention of continuing dialogue with Islamabad.

"What is the basic nature of relationship of the present Central Government with Pakistan? The Central Government wants to hold talks with them and they kill our people and behead them," said BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad told the media in Pune.

"The country is restless and worried over the issue of national security, and Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi are neutral. How will this work and why should it be allowed?" he asked.

Prasad further said that India should halt talks with Pakistan in wake of the ceasefire violations.

"India is paying a very heavy price, for this kind of assurance of Pakistan that regardless of whatever we do, Soniaji (UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi) and Manmohan Singh would continue to hold talks. This is not right," he added.

Meanwhile, the Congress Party urged the government to continue maintaining diplomatic pressures on Pakistan in light of the continuous ceasefire violations along the LoC and brutal killing of two jawans.

"We take note of the fact that the Government of India has put diplomatic and other pressures on the Government of Pakistan and the steps that the military is taking to strengthen patrolling on the Line of Control (LoC) and the action that they have taken, we welcome that," said Congress spokesperson Sandeep Dikshit.

" We also urge the government of India to take all necessary diplomatic and other action that are necessary to keep the sanctity of the Line of Control and the diplomatic steps necessary to continue to put pressure on Pakistan," he added.

Commented on the closing of trade gates by Pakistan for Indian traders, Dikshit said:"By stopping the buses and other activities that are occurring at the border we feel the Pakistan government is unable to decide the course of their strategy. We hope that Pakistan government takes cognisance on diplomatic level the aggression shown at the Line of Control and try improving the ties instead of worsening it."

"It would be better if the country acts on the matters raised by our Army and diplomatic channels," he added.

The tension between the two Asian neighbours has aggravated after the brutal killing and beheading of the two Indian soldiers.

Pakistan has denied India''s claim that its troops crossed the Line of Control to ambush a patrol party in the Mendhar sector in Poonch district on Tuesday.

The high commissioners of the two countries have been summoned by the respective governments throughout this week and served with demarches'' to explain recent hostile developments in each other''s territory and across.

Moreover, Pakistan has refused to open its trade doors at border district of Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir amid escalating tension between the two Asian neighbours following ceasefire violation.

Cross-border trade was impacted as Pakistan refused to allow 25 trucks from India to cross the Line of Control in the Poonch district and enter a designated trade centre in Pakistan occupied Kashmir. At least 21 items, mainly agricultural produce, are bartered every week between the two sides.

In a major escalation to the ceasefire violations and infiltration attempts, a group of Pakistan Army soldiers raided across the Line of Control in Mendhar sector and killed two Indian soldiers and injured one more. The Pakistani troops attacked an area domination patrol party of the Indian Army.

Lance Naik Hemraj and Lance Naik Sudhakar Singh were the two Indian soldiers killed brutally by the Pakistani troops. (ANI)
