BJP questions why Bansal isn’t quitting on moral ground

BJP questions why Bansal isn’t quitting on moral groundThe Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) doesn't want to leave any stone unturned to force railway minister Pawan Kumar Bansal quit over the recently exposed `cash for job' bribery scam.

CBI on May 3 caught Bansal's nephew Vijay Singla red handed when he was taking 90 lakhs in bribe from a railway official for facilitating him get a creamy position. Reports suggest that the bribe was a part of a huge deal of 12 crore, and the first installment of 90 lakhs was to be given to Bansal.

Anurag Thakur, president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, argued that why Bansal is not quitting on moral ground as he himself had suggested MPs involved in the `cash-for-questions' scam in December 2005 to quit on the same ground.

Demanding the railway minister's resignation, Thakur said, "Bansal had asked for the MPs' resignation on moral ground, then why he is not quitting on moral ground."

Thakur also alleged that CBI DIG Mahesh Aggarwal had tipped off Bansal's nephew Singla about the imminent CBI raid at his residence on May 3.

Thakur added that Aggarwal is a relative of the railway minister and thus he should immediate be transferred to ensure a fair probe into the bribery case.

The opposition has also alleged that Bansal had extended undue help to his kin Sunil Gupta in being nominated as a government director on government-run Canara Bank's board in 2007, when Bansal was a junior minister in the ministry of finance.
