BMW unveils M4 concept coupe in Pebble Beach

BMW unveils M4 concept coupe in Pebble BeachLuxury carmaker BMW introduced the world to its hotly anticipated M4 coupe during the 2013 Pebble Beach weekend.

The M4 coupe is an enhanced version of the BMW 4-Series coupe, which will go on sale in October this year. While the 4-Series will sell as a coupe, the company's current 3 Series is selling as a wagon or sedan.

The BMW M4 sports a lower & wider stance than the company's 3-Series upon which it's based.

The company didn't reveal anything about the type of engine the car will come equipped with, but analysts expect it to ditch the M3's V-8 engine in favor of a turbocharged V-6, which will probably beat the existing car's 414 horsepower capability. Transmissions will reportedly include the company's sequential manual gearbox (SMG).

The use of carbon-fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) has helped in decreasing the car's weight. The manufacturer has used the lightweight material to reduce the car's roof panel, front splitter and rear diffuser.

Friedrich Nitschke, president of M Division at BMW, said, "The BMW Concept M4 Coupe reflects the BMW M philosophy in ideal form: It combines motor racing genes and unrestricted everyday suitability in a highly emotional overall concept."

The fully-ready BMW M4 coupe will be released at the next Detroit Auto Show, which is scheduled to take place in January 2014. The hotly anticipated luxury coupe is expected to hit showrooms in summer next year.
