BSkyB third quarter profit jumps to £286 millionBritish Sky Broadcasting Group Plc, a satellite TV group in UK, announced today that its third quarter profit beat the expectations of the company. BSkyB said that the excellent performance in the third quarter ended march was mainly attributable to the increased revenue in the period.

BSkyB said in its quarterly report that the net profit was reported of £286 million in the third quarter ended March, while it was reported of £3 million for the same quarter last year. Total revenue in the quarter was reported of £1.51 billion, increasing by 8.2% compared to £1.4 billion posted in the same period last year.

For the first nine months of the fiscal, BSkyB reported pretax profit of £707 million, increasing by huge margin while it was reported of £339m in the same period last year. Revenue in the nine months period was reported £4.38 billion, increasing by 11% compared to the same period last year.

Adjusted operating profit was posted of £618m for the nine months to the end of March, increasing by 5% compared to the same period last year.

BSkyB also said that the company registered average revenue per customer over £500 for the first time in history. BSkyB added 62000 new customers to its customer base in the third quarter of the year. BSkyB also said that it added 428,000 HD subscribers in the third quarter.
