BSNL continues its 3G spree, rolls out network in Kochi

BSNL-3GThe government owned Telecom Company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) is going great guns in its 3G spree. The company's latest 3G spot is Kochi. It has rolled out its 3G services in Kochi (Kerala) today.

The service will be available in the areas that come under the Ernakulam SSA of Kerala telecom circle. This will include urban areas like Tripunithura, Kalamassery, Aluva, Angamaly, Perumbavoor, Muvattupuzha, Kothamangalam, Thodupuzha and Idukki.

With the launch of these 3G services, the telco is offering myraid of services including Video calls, High-speed Internet (supporting 3.6 Mbps speed), multimedia services and live Mobile TV streaming. The launch of the service for BSNL was done by K. V. Thomas, the Union Minister of State for Agriculture. BSNL's senior officials of the state were also present at the launch which happened at the Vidya Bhavan.

To support its 3G services in this area, BSNL has installed 3G enabled 150 Base Trans-receiver Stations (BTS) in Kochi nand surrounding areas. BSNL will be installing another 84 3G Base Trans-receiver Stations, by the end of March.
