Bulgarian foreign minister visits Bosnia

Sarajevo - Bosnia-Herzegovina and Bulgaria agreed to significantly improve economic cooperation, Bosnian Foreign Minister Sven Alkalaj and his Bulgarian counterpart Ivalio Kalfin said Monday in Sarajevo.

The ministers also agreed to sign a double taxation agreement as well as several other deals regulating investment and transport between the two countries.

The ministers also outlined possible cooperation in the metal and wood industries in addition to tourism.

"Bulgaria is interested in investing in Bosnia-Herzegovina and improving trade between the two countries," Kalfin told reporters in Sarajevo.

Bulgaria would continue to support Bosnia-Herzegovina in its progress towards the European Union. He also said Bulgarian experts could help bring Bosnian laws in line with those of the EU.

Kalfin is payin a one-day-official visit to Bosnia-Herzegovina and is to meet members of Bosnia's tripartite state presidency and Prime Minister Nikola Spiric later Monday. (dpa)
