Car sales increase by 20% in 2010
The rise of 11% in the new car registration in the month of June has marked the consecutive monthly increase in car sales for the 12th month despite of the end of the car scrappage scheme from the government. But the market experts have said that the sales would be decrease at the end of this year.
Registration of new cars has risen by 10.8% in the month of June. It has pushed the number of orders for the car making companies. This rise has increased the new car registration by 19.9% or 180,000 vehicles in the first half of this year as well.
According to the figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), over the past one year the car sales have increased to 20.4% or to 2.179 million vehicles in number. The Vauxhall Astra was the best selling car in June and it had acquired the number one slot in February 2008.
Ford Fiesta had the largest numbers of registration the first half of the year. Overall sales in every type of car have risen in the year but the strongest rise was recorded in the luxury saloon, lower medium segments and MPV cars of the market.
