Conservatives to field 'Indian-trained tantric' in Britain polls?

pollsLondon, Oct 4 : A nightclub owner and self-proclaimed "tantric master" has been selected by Britain's largest opposition party to stand at the next general elections, a newspaper reported.

Andrew Charalambous will bid to be the Conservative MP for Edmonton constituency - a suburban London seat currently held by the ruling Labour Party on a majority of more than 8,000 votes, the Evening Standard reported.

The paper said Charalambous has been described on his website as "a tantric master initiated in India. He has dated some of the most beautiful women in the world".

The newspaper said Charalambous, a barrister, is known as Dr Earth and runs a nightclub in north London where a high-tech floor generates electricity from the movement of dancers.

The paper said Charalambous claims: "All you have to do is dance to save the world."

It quoted an unnamed Conservative parliamentary source as saying: "It's nuts. It's one thing to stand by the 'vote blue, go green theory, but to say we can solve climate change by dance? The scary thing is he could win the seat. It's a car crash waiting to happen."

The next general elections in Britain are due by June 3, 2010.
