Controversies unable to harm IPL’s revenues

Controversies unable to harm IPL’s revenuesBe it the Ex-Minister of state for external affairs Shashi Tharoor who had to left his post because of the allegations made against him in the IPL controversy or the IPL’s commissioner Lalit Modi himself who has been facing tough time as far as the matter of keeping his position intact in the much-popular cricket tournament is concerned. But experts are of a view that it hasn’t really made an impact on the revenue generating capacity of the cricket tournament.

Moreover, as the third season if nearing its closure, media planners are sure that the tournament will see the overall ad spend increasing by Rs 100 crore notwithstanding additional revenue generated through big television sponsorships and telecasts in theatres as the two new teams will be added to its kitty.

It is believed that the broadcaster, SET Max is expecting to earn a stupendous Rs. 750 crore, from the ongoing season of the cricket tournament, doubling its earnings from the South Africa edition.

It has been learned that the channel is charging around Rs 4-5 lakh for a ten second commercial spot which is way high as against Rs 3 lakh during IPL season 2.
