Court issues fresh summons to Essar, Loop executivesThe special court, which hearing the 2G spectrum scam case, has issued fresh summons to senior executives of Essar Group as well as Loop Telecom to appear in the court after they failed to appear claiming they did not receive any summons.

Essar Promoter Director Anshuman Ruia, Essar Vice Chairman Ravi Ruia, Essar Group Director of Strategy & Planning, Vikas Saraf, Loop Telecom's Kiran Khaitan and IP Khaitan are the five executives who failed to show up at the court on Friday.

The court has not given four accused another opportunity for personal appearance on 22 February "before issuing any coercive process". The court allowed the application Vikash Saraf for exemption from personal appearance and will take up the issue on 22 February.

The accused had been issued summoned by the special Central Bureau of India (CBI) judge OP Saini in December. However, The lawyers of the executive said that the summons have not been served to the prompters of Essar Group and Loop Telecom.

The five corporate executives were charged under Indian Penal Code Sections 420 and 120(b) after being accused of cheating and criminal conspiracy in one of India's largest scam involving auction of 2G spectrum at dirt cheap prices by the government.
