Deepika flaunts Indian accent in 'xXx: The Return of Xander Cage'

New Delhi [India], Oct. 17 : Deepika Padukone, who is gearing up for her Hollywood debut in ' xXx: The Return of Xander Cage', recently revealed that she was allowed to flaunt her natural accent in the movie.

In a candid talk with Pinkvilla, the 30-year-old star expressed "great pride" in playing an Indian girl in the D. J. Caruso directed flick saying, "I get to be myself."

"That is one of the aspects that drew me to the script and attracted me to do this film, the fact that for once, I was allowed to be myself is fantastic. I was allowed to flaunt that I am Indian," she said.

The 'Tamasha' star presumably begged to differ from the practice of Bollywood stars like Priyanka Chopra and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who have improvised on their accent when acting on international projects.

She also looks forward to the "Indian accent" like any other accent making a global impact.

"For years, we have accepted the British and Australian accent, for example. So it's high time we accept an Indian accent," she said.

Deepika has apparently delivered her dialogues in her 'natural Indian accent' in her debut Hollywood venture, which also stars Vin Diesel, Donnie Yen, Tony Jaa, Nina Dobrev and many other popular international stars.

The American action-adventure film releases in January next year. (ANI)
