DEWA Announces Fund Worth Dh6.4 Billion for New Projects

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has expressed that it would continue its efforts for increasing electricity and water productivity in the region by providing support to the ongoing and new projects. The state-run utility has already announced funds worth Dh6.42 billion to revamp the existing plants and to support new one to address growing power and water needs in the region. DEWA had earlier decided to avail services of international developers for building water and power plant in Emirates.

Saeed Mohammad Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA added that the investment is aimed to ensure energy and water security. He also announced to participate in the 12th Water Technologies, Energy and Environment Exhibition which is scheduled to hold on March 9 to 11 amid the presence of World’s top companies from 22 countries.

Al Tayer added, “Wetex is considered an ideal platform to present and discuss critical issues within the core current concerns which include power consumption rationalization, protection of natural resources and sustainable development.”

The city-state, apparently aware of rising demand of energy and pure water, has reserved $20 billion for its five powers and water projects which are under construction or being planned.
