Djokovic seals semis spot in ATP World Tour Finals by beating Del Potro

Novak DjokovicLondon, Nov 8 - Defending champion Novak Djokovic has sealed his place in the semi-finals of the season-ending ATP World Tour Finals by beating Argentine star Juan Martin Del Potro 6-3 3-6 6-3 in London on Thursday.

The Serbian star, who achieved his 19th consecutive win since losing to Rafael Nadal in the US Open final in September, became the second player after the world number one to reach the last four at the tournament.

According to the BBC, Del Potro and Swiss ace Roger Federer will battle for the second Group B qualification place on Saturday.

Stating that he was pleased to come through another tough examination, Djokovic said that he was lucky that his group was selected to play Tuesday and Thursday considering the scheduling on back-to-back Paris Masters and World Tour Finals, adding that he got more time to rest and get ready as he played night matches.

The report mentioned that a full house of more than 17,000 spectators packed into the O2 Arena to see a repeat of this year's gripping Wimbledon semi-final, which Djokovic won in five sets. (ANI)
