Domestic ad budgets climb by 30%-40% in 2010-11Going by the calculations made by the industry body Assocham, the ad budget in the domestic industry has gone up by at a rate of 30-40% for 2010-11.

While the industry body mentioned the fact that the improvement in the ad budgets is coming on the back of the improved demand, the body also said that as there is a vast majority in corporates that have hikes their ad budgets, it has come as a boon for the media industry.

It is to be mentioned here that sectors like FMCG, home appliances and electronic appliances, automobile, real estate, textiles, jewelery and luxury products are the names of the few sectors that have taken an active role in hiking their ad budgets over the past few months.

D. S Rawat, secretary general, ASSOCHAM said that the print media which had reduced their no. of pages in the slowdown times have increased their pages to accommodate ads from the corporate clients.

It is expected that if the trend continues in times to come, the budgets of the companies may go up in the next two quarters as well of the current financial year.
