EBay unveils Pinterest-like site redesign

EBay unveils Pinterest-like site redesignAfter a last-month announcement that a "new eBay" was in the offing, eBay has now unveiled a redesigned website, which is quite similar in appearance to the popular Pinterest site, and unfolds for the shoppers a browsing experience that is more convenient and more visual.

Unveiling the redesigned eBay site at a Wednesday event in New York's trendy Meatpacking district, the San Jose, California-based eBay revealed that, in the coming 100 days, the new site will be gradually rolled out to the US users; with overseas users to be brought on after that.

With eBay noting that it has 105 million active users across the globe, and nearly 25 million sellers including individuals as well as reputed brands, the redesigned eBay website - boasting a Pinterest-like grid interface - shows those products to the users which are linked to the items that they have bought in the past or items they have clicked on the site.

The redesigned eBay site will allure the visitors to browse and collect product for later purchase with a feature dubbed the "feed." It will also be possible for shoppers to edit their feed by making an addition to or deleting individual items as well as product categories.

About the advantages of the redesigned site, eBay President Devin Wenig said that "search results and recommendations are no longer enough" in the present-day online shopping scenario; and added: "Consumers want insight. And they want personal, curated selection that is relevant to them, controlled by them."
