Eeco delivers what Maruti desired
Though Versa wasn't able to bring the desired volumes for the market leader Maruti Suzuki, Eeco perhaps has done that. The product is currently on a waiting period of 3-4 months. Eeco was launched at the recently held 10th auto expo in January in the capital. The product is a C-segment car which comes under both a five-seater and a seven-seater option.
Clearly, the product is targeting large families looking for comfort and space and it is believed that the Eeco buyers are the ones who are upgrading from the Omni.
In fact, the waiting period is touching a period of 6-7 month in some regions while the company is busy coping with the demand and supply mismatch.
"Eeco has received a very good response from the market. It is doing more than what we expected out of it," explained Shashank Srivastava, CGM-Marketing, Maruti Suzuki India.
The brand equity of Maruti Suzuki which sells every other car being sold in the country coupled with the performance of this MUV, the company is set to reap dividends riding on the back of this product. Another reason for the higher demand for the model is the affordable pricing compared to other vehicles with similar seating capacity.
