EGoM To Decide On 3G Reserve Price: Telecom MinisterTelecom Minister, A Raja said on Thursday that the Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) will take a final decision on the reserve price for the spectrum.

Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, Raja said in view of differences between telecom regulator TRAI and DoT on a number of issues, it was decided to refer the matter to the EGoM.

The Union Communications and IT Minister elucidated that differences between were basically on number of blocks of spectrum to be auctioned, reserve price for spectrum and annual administrative charge.

The Minister said: “There are two issues in front of the e-GoM — what should be the reserve price for the auction of 3G spectrum and how many blocks of spectrum should be auctioned (operators allowed per telecom circle).”

Recently, the Ministry had said that the auctions would be completed by September. The auction of 3G spectrum would let companies to provide high-speed Internet and video downloads on mobile phones.

It should be noted here that the government had already collected Rs 600 billion for the 2G spectrum from the license holders.

Raja also ruled out foul play or scam in the spectrum allocation process.
