Fans disappointed by Indian cricket team’s dismal performance

Fans disappointed by Indian cricket team’s dismal performanceMumbai/New Delhi/Chandigarh/Ranchi, Aug 15: The humiliating loss of the Indian cricket team in the third test match at Edgbaston against England, which ended on Saturday, has disappointed fans across the country.

India has lost the series three nil and also its number one test ranking.

Fans across India were disappointed with India''''s performance and blamed Coach Duncan Fletcher for the team''''s loss.

"I am very disappointed that World''''s number one test cricket team lost by 3-0. The team was not (performing) well and our coach is not very serious about the series, we have to change our coach. Being a Mumbaikar, we have to change our coach. Basically, the batsmen were not doing well, so they have to work hard in the batting line-up and we have to do well in the last match," said Aakash Singh, a fan from Mumbai.

Some fans felt that the over confidence played a part lead in the team's humiliating loss.

"See, the Indian Cricket team is over confident. In fact, it has been India''''s weakness to play on fast pitches. Both Sachin and Sehwag are not performing well. Sachin is out of form and this is the biggest reason for India''''s loss. The bowling end is a little better, but the batting line-up has totally collapsed," said Sohan, a fan from Chandigarh.

"This defeat reflects that bowlers cannot take wickets. Zaheer Khan was unable to play this time due to his injury. This is why the quality of bowling in the team has gone down. Virendra Sehwag was chosen because of his fiery batting style, but he too got out on the first ball. Even Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir and Rahul Dravid did not perform well. Rahul Dravid clicked in the first two matches, but did not perform well in both the innings of the third match,"said Dhruv Mishra, a fan from Ranchi.

England had last surged to the top of the Test rankings in February 1979 when the then number-one ranked West Indies lost a six-Test series in India by 1-0. (ANI)
